This is an auspicious occasion to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relation between the two countries, H.E. Long Visalo said in his opening remarks.
“Since Jan. 09, 1953, our two peoples always enjoyed very close friendship and very productive cooperation in all fields”, he added.
According to H.E. Long Visalo, during the 60th anniversary, Cambodia and Japan will organize many activities and events in order to celebrate this meaningful day including cultural performances conducted by both Cambodian and Japanese artists, exhibitions, Japanese song and speech contests, movie shows both on Cambodia and Japanese TV.
The Cambodian embassy in Tokyo will also organize some events as well including a reception to mark this 60th anniversary, photo exhibition, and will closely coordinate with the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia to take part in the travel fairs organized by the Japan Association of Tourism Agency in Tokyo, he added
For his part, H.E. Ambassador of Japan highlighted the Japanese role in Cambodia’s peace building and development.
“In the last 20 years, Japan has not only led the international conferences for peace of Cambodia such as the Tokyo conference on Peace in Cambodia in 1990, and also has actively participated in the promotion of the stability and development of Cambodia through economic cooperation in the fields such as building infrastructures and human resources development, preservation of Angkor Temples and contribution to the Khmer Rouge Tribunal”, H.E. ambassador said.
Since 1992, Japan is the largest bilateral donor in Cambodia, and in recently Japanese investors have started their investment in Cambodia.
